Artist Statement

About Kim Garrett — Artist Statement & Philosophy: I see beauty everywhere.

Creating through paint, pencil, and plants is how I move closer to it, and how I share the way I see the world with others.

Paint builds in layers of light and color. Shadows of graphite bring out details and life. Flowers let me bring the outdoors in — the same eye for shape and color at work in a single stem as on a canvas.

I don't think of my work as capturing a place so much as deeply appreciating it: light on a ridge line, freckles on a nose, the bend of an orchid stem. My art began in Hawaii, where my relationship to the land runs deeper than aesthetics. I care for this place, and that same appreciation carries into everything I create with paint, graphite, and flowers alike. Art is how I pay that appreciation forward, so the beauty I notice doesn't stay only mine.

That same care extends to how I work with clients. Outside the studio, I run a growth strategy firm, following nearly twenty years leading growth for national brands - work that drove tens of millions in new revenue and built client relationships that lasted years. That discipline shapes my creative practice: clear communication, dependable timelines, and a process built to be as thoughtful as the finished piece itself.
